At last. You have done all your prep. You have gone through all the travel and you have touched down in India.
Here's the mistakes most people make at this point:
Taxis: Like piranhas around fresh meat taxi drivers can swarm tourists. Make sure you have an airport transfer pre-booked to avoid getting overwhelmed. Outside of the airport you must also have your wits about you. Stick to Uber to avoid getting overcharged by taxi drivers once they see you are a tourist.
Street Food: I get it. You want to try the local cuisine and experience real culture. Honestly street food is a good place to go for that. But how do you avoid crippling Delhi Belly? Find a recommended restaurant which serves all the street food classics while having hygienic practices. We have a couple places we could recommend...
Haggling: This is a bit of a tricky one. On the one hand street vendors often do not have very much and overcharge tourists as a way of getting some extra revenue. This is a bit unfair to tourists who despite haggling will probably end up overpaying. I would avoid the whole dilema entirely and go to fixed price vendors which still support independent artisans.
